QI GONG AND TAI CHI ON THE PLAZA 2019

The ancient Chinese arts of Qi Gong and Yang style Tai Chi improve overall health. Qi Gong brings benefits for balance, coordination, and relaxation using slow movements that are effective in improving walking and in fall prevention. Tai Chi strengthens the body and the energy within it. The slow, flowing movements of Tai Chi help to relax the mind and body, while at the same time bringing a sense of vitality and wellness. Both will increase the strength and flexibility of muscles and ligaments while improving overall flexibility and strength throughout the whole body. Breathing exercises increase the ability to absorb more oxygen into the body so that the brain works more efficiently, heart and lungs become healthier and energy is increased.

Antonia Jáuregui Tamayo is a volunteer instructor at the Treasure Valley YMCA and the Caldwell Library. George Stetter started as a student in Antonia’s first class and became a volunteer instructor at the Y last year. George introduced Tai Chi on the Plaza in the summer of 2018 and currently leads classes at the Y. He also started a class to benefit the Middleton community at Canyon Springs Church.
